Past Indefinite Tense Definition in English

Definition:

The Past Indefinite Tense, also called the Simple Past Tense, is used to describe an action or event that started and finished at a specific time in the past. It expresses completed actions, past habits, or past facts.

Formula:

• Subject + Verb (2nd form) + Object

Examples:

1. She visited her grandmother yesterday.
2. They played football last Sunday.
3. I finished my homework last night.
4. He bought a new laptop last week.
5. We watched a movie yesterday.

पास्ट में होने वाली किसी भी घटना का बोध कराने के लिए “ Past Indefinite का प्रयोग किया जाता है । इस तरह के वाक्य के अंत में  ता था /ते थे/ती थी/आ /ऐ /ई/या रहता है ।

जैसे – गया , लिया , दिया , गई, सो गया , किया , गया था ,गई , गए ।   

इस तरह के वाक्य से हमे पता चलता है कि कोई काम भूतकाल में शुरू हुआ और भूतकाल में ही खत्म हो गया ।

या आप इस तरह से आसानी से समझ सकते हैं – जिस हिन्दी वाक्य के अंत में Vowel letter का Sound आता हो । a,e,i, o,u .  

इसमें Verb का 2^nd रूप प्रयोग होता है ।

Past Indefinite

Structure :  Subject + v2+ obj .

1. मैंने खाना खाया। → I ate food.

2. वह स्कूल गया। → He went to school.

3. उन्होंने फिल्म देखी। → They watched a movie.

4. उसने मेरी मदद की। → He helped me.

5. हमने क्रिकेट खेला। → We played cricket.

6. राम ने गाना गाया। → Ram sang a song.

7. मैं बाजार गया। → I went to the market.

8. उसने चिट्ठी लिखी। → She wrote a letter.

9. बच्चे पार्क में खेले। → The children played in the park.

10. उसने दूध पिया। → He drank milk.

11. मैंने दरवाज़ा खोला। → I opened the door.

12. उसने टीवी देखा। → She watched TV.

13. हमने मेहनत की। → We worked hard.

14. तुम देर से आए। → You came late.

15. मैंने नई किताब खरीदी। → I bought a new book.

16. वह कल यहाँ आया। → He came here yesterday.

17. उन्होंने परीक्षा दी। → They gave the exam.

18. वह बस से गया। → He went by bus.

19. मैंने खाना बनाया। → I cooked food.

20. हमने सैर की। → We took a walk.

21. उसने मेरा नाम पुकारा। → He called my name.

22. मैंने मोबाइल इस्तेमाल किया। → I used the mobile.

23. वह बारिश में भीग गया। → He got wet in the rain.

24. मैंने सच्चाई बताई। → I told the truth.

25. उन्होंने जीत का जश्न मनाया। → They celebrated the victory.

26. उसने गुस्सा किया। → He got angry.

27. मैंने तुम्हें देखा। → I saw you.

28. बच्चों ने मिठाई खाई। → The children ate sweets.

29. उसने नई ड्रेस पहनी। → She wore a new dress.

30. हमने फिल्म का आनंद लिया। → We enjoyed the movie.

31. वह डॉक्टर बना। → He became a doctor.

32. मैंने गलती की। → I made a mistake.

33. उसने फोन किया। → She made a call.

34. हमने पेड़ लगाए। → We planted trees.

35. उसने मेरा इंतज़ार किया। → He waited for me.

36. मैंने जवाब दिया। → I answered.

37. उन्होंने गीत गाए। → They sang songs.

38. उसने सबको बुलाया। → She invited everyone.

39. मैंने पानी पिया। → I drank water.

40. उसने जल्दी सोया। → He slept early.

41. मैंने कार चलाई। → I drove the car.

42. उसने कंप्यूटर चलाया। → He operated the computer.

43. हमने किताबें पढ़ीं। → We read books.

44. उसने परीक्षा पास की। → She passed the exam.

45. मैंने घर साफ किया। → I cleaned the house.

46. उसने नाश्ता बनाया। → He made breakfast.

47. वह देर से उठा। → He woke up late.

48. मैंने नया फोन खरीदा। → I bought a new phone.

49. उसने मुझे पत्र भेजा। → He sent me a letter.

50. हमने पार्टी की। → We had a party.

Past Indefinite Negative 

Negative : Subject +did + v1 + obj .

1. मैंने खाना नहीं खाया। → I did not eat food.

2. वह स्कूल नहीं गया। → He did not go to school.

3. उन्होंने फिल्म नहीं देखी। → They did not watch the movie.

4. तुमने मुझे नहीं बताया। → You did not tell me.

5. हमने काम पूरा नहीं किया। → We did not finish the work.

6. उसने झूठ नहीं बोला। → He did not tell a lie.

7. मैंने दूध नहीं पिया। → I did not drink milk.

8. बच्चे ने रोया नहीं। → The child did not cry.

9. मैंने किताब नहीं पढ़ी। → I did not read the book.

10. वह बाजार नहीं गया। → He did not go to the market.

11. उसने चाय नहीं बनाई। → She did not make tea.

12. मैंने उसे नहीं देखा। → I did not see him.

13. हमने पार्टी में हिस्सा नहीं लिया। → We did not take part in the party.

14. तुमने दरवाज़ा नहीं खोला। → You did not open the door.

15. उसने मेरा फोन नहीं उठाया। → He did not pick up my call.

16. मैंने कुछ नहीं कहा। → I did not say anything.

17. उन्होंने मुझे नहीं बुलाया। → They did not call me.

18. मैंने परीक्षा नहीं दी। → I did not take the exam.

19. उसने मदद नहीं की। → He did not help.

20. तुमने पत्र नहीं लिखा। → You did not write the letter.

21. मैंने गाना नहीं गाया। → I did not sing a song.

22. वह मंदिर नहीं गया। → He did not go to the temple.

23. हमने सिनेमा नहीं देखा। → We did not watch the cinema.

24. मैंने नाश्ता नहीं किया। → I did not eat breakfast.
